Howdy, folks. So, since last we spoke, there was a sort of a tornado thingy that pretty much wrecked a large part of Tuscaloosa. Fortunately, I live across the river in Northport, and we didn’t have anything really bad on this side, just a lot of rain. It did knock the cable out until just … Continue reading “Greetings from the disaster area!”
Our 2011 Braves Journal Whipping Boy will be — to start with — Alex Gonzalez! No, not Alex Gonzalez, Alex Gonzalez! AAG outpolled Nate McLouth 99-92. He will hold the Whipping Boy title until we get totally fed up with George Sherrill. New poll.
Includes the Year of Kolb, the Debut of Jeffy, and far too much Reitsma. There’s about a month’s gap where the posts are missing in my archives, I don’t know why.
Get me with the arrogance. This is, mostly, a selection of entries from here from the years 1998-2003. I have added a brief comment to each one. The first part, I actually compiled several years ago when I was trying to preserve the old archives from the Compuserve version of the site. I was considering … Continue reading “So, I did this”
Thanks to everyone who contributed to my mini-fundraising drive. It’s much appreciated. MapleStreetPress.com Braves Annual 2011. The above is supposed to be shipping now, to be on newsstands start March 1 or thereabouts. Basically, I was there to see the guy who’s the top expert in the type of cancer I … Continue reading “Good news, everyone game thread: April 11, Braves at Giants”
I am going to be allegorical here, because it’s basically the only way I know how to put this. My oncologist prescribed a new treatment this year; let’s call it “Yunel Escobar” because it is annoying and showy but effective. And Yunel led off the treatment with a triple. Yay! It would be easy enough … Continue reading “UPDATE: How my health situation resembles the Braves offense in early 2009”
So, I’m home for now. I’m still loopy, but so far things aren’t too bad. Roll Tide.
I’ve been letting this go for awhile, until I was pretty sure… But it appears that the cancer is defeated, at least for now. You can never tell with this, but all the tests (blood work and PET scans) show up as cancer-free. The only lingering effect is some “peripheral neuropathy”, which basically means dead … Continue reading “Health Update”
So, I have a new hole in me, but the surgery seems to have been successful. There’s still a little “discomfort”, though the Percoset does a lot for that. The main thing is that I feel very, very weak. The normal description would be “weak as a kitten” but this may be unfair to kittens. … Continue reading “Ow”
