Rainout

The Braves and Phillies were rained out tonight, a decision made well before game time. They will make the game up tomorrow in a traditional doubleheader, which can only happen because they are both terrible teams making up a game on a weekday near the end of the season. In any other scenario, I am sure we would have gotten the lovely day/night doubleheader that is so common now. The change of plans means the Braves faithful will get the chance to see the Braves lose to the Phillies not once, but twice in one day. Happy days are here again.

Natspos delenda est. And they can take the Phillies with them.

  1. Now I have to do two losses, and people don’t get to enjoy a ‘Rissa Recap. Man, it really sucks to be us right now.

  2. I’m not too concerned with the shakeup in the FO. They are moving a 65 year old for a 58 year old. This is just Rosenthal making a mountain out of a mole hill. Trembley is just semi-retired now — much like JS…

  3. Simmons – 6.3 WAR
    Dansby – 0.2 WAR

    There’s 6 wins

    Wood – 3.1 WAR
    Colon – -2.1 WAR

    There’s 5 wins

    Kimbrel – 2.8 WAR
    Johnson – -0.8 WAR

    There’s 3 wins

Unscientific but there’s 14 wins difference there.

Checks standings… 13.5 games out of the wild card.

Hmm. I wonder if anyone is going to be held accountable for this?

  4. You really can’t lump Kimbrel in this. The money they freed up from Kimbrel and BUpton will create way more than Kimbrel’s WAR minus BUpton’s negative WAR.

Tyler Flowers to 10 day DL. David Freitas called up. Enrique Bourgos DFA’ed to make room on the 40 man. Jason Hursh called up to be 26th man.

  5. @7, it’s still a valid point. Tying Kimbrel to BJ is still one of the most arguable moves of the rebuild.

None of the moves from 2014-forward matter at all if the plan is total tankage and rebuild through the draft. But, Freeman and Teheran should not still be on the team, if indeed that’s the plan. I don’t know the plan, so all I can go on is what they tell us. What they tell us makes very little sense though.
