  1. Why didn’t they at least try to play a doubleheader tomorrow? Are they anticipating another rainout?

  2. The good news in the rainout is that the Braves gained a half-game on both the Phillies and Marlins. Playing this game in September isn’t so bad either. Both teams will have the benefit of deeper benches, which will clearly give Atlanta an edge, since most of the Mets good prospects are now in NY.

The cynical side of me says it’s because Piazza is hurt, so they would rather punt the game to September. In reality, it’s probably ok for the Braves since by September the Mets will be 10+ games out and will have given up.

  4. Just a guess, but probably because they can’t start until six because of the Fox window.

That makes sense. I hate Fox.

But by September the Braves will also hold a ten game lead and have the division all but locked up, so it shouldn’t matter either way.

  5. Well, much as I like to see talent vs. talent, my inner Braves fan would much prefer to see the Braves take on the Mets as much as possible when Piazza’s out.

  6. fwiw, i don’t think it’s the fox window. i live here in nyc and it’s been raining for about 24 hours off and on, and we’ve got a 40% chance of showers into monday. here’s hoping we get these two games in – i’m supposed to be at tomorrows.
